Ding Dong, the witch is dead!

Ding dong, the witch is dead!  The wicked witch is dead!

Randy Wallace, with Fox 26 news, reported that Dawn Blackmar has retired as Director of Harris County animal control…. and all over Texas rescuers, and animal lovers, are rejoicing.

Blackmar6

A person who directed the torture and deaths of hundreds of thousands of helpless animals, during her decades long tenure, is finally gone.

This is a good day for lost and homeless animals in Harris County, Texas!

Personally, I am THRILLED that Blackmar is out.  Some of the most horrific stories of abuse that I have ever heard have come from Blackmar’s vile leadership of Harris County animal control.   For those who are unfamiliar with Dawn Blackmar and the House of Horrors that she ran in Harris County, please read my blog here.

Nathan Winograd also gave Blackmar his Phyllis Wright “award” for being one of the worst of the worst in the entire country;  someone who epitomizes everything that is wrong with our broken animal “shelter” system.  Considering the horrific shape our sheltering system is in, that is saying a lot and Blackmar beat out a lot of heinous people to win.  Winograd even dedicated a page in his new book, Friendly Fire, to the atrocities at Harris County animal control.

You would be hard pressed to find a facility in the entire country with a worse reputation than Harris County animal control under Dawn Blackmar’s direction.

So, today is a good day and I am celebrating.

But we all need to remember that, even after the Harris County Attorney’s investigation confirmed that Blackmar and her employees had been committing absolutely heinous and torturous acts against helpless animals;  and that she and her employees, had been breaking state humane laws for YEARS, the Harris County Commissioners did nothing.   The Commissioners allowed Blackmar to keep her job for over a year, and they allowed her to retire from that job.   I am assuming that she will receive a nice, fat pension from Harris County in payment for her decades of running the animal version of Auschwitz.

Folks, these are our ELECTED officials who have done nothing while humane laws were broken in the most horrific ways imaginable by county employees, and it is our tax dollars that is paying for it.

We all should remember this when we go the voting booth in November to vote for County Commissioners.

And, although we are celebrating today, if the past at other kill shelters is a guide, the Harris County Commissioners are not likely to hire someone with a better track record than Blackmar.   What we have seen is city and county officials who hire the same types of people over and over again.  They hire people with experience in high kill shelters who just continue the slaughter.

We cannot sit by and wait for this to happen in Harris County again.

We must tell County Commissioners that we expect them to hire someone who will allow Harris County join the other 200+ communities (and counting) who are saving 90% to 98% of all animals

We must tell them that killing 89% of all animals is not acceptable.

We must tell them that we are voters and this matters to us.

We must continue telling them this until they do what is right, and hire a leader who is dedicated to saving lives.   Only this will turn around Harris County animal control.

The contact information for your County Commissioners is listed here.

Thank you for standing up for the animals.

    • Jessica, spread the information to all of your friends and family and urge them to do the same. Hopefully, it will reach a lot of people in Harris Co by word of mouth. Then, people can make more educated decisions when they go to the voting booth this November.

    • Mir, I agree. We need elected officials who actually care about this issue and who will step up and do what is necessary to fix the problems.

  4. GOOD THEY SHOULD KILL THIS FUCKING BITCH!!! Slowly and painfully. To start with we could stick her in the gas chamber for a bit not long enough to die, just long enough for the first inkling of lung blood aspiration. Next we could stick her in a huge cage with about 50 rabid dogs with sharp teeth and let them have a few whacks at her. Then we could just beat the living piss outta her and kick her in the head a couple times. Then its torture of a thousand cuts, we can strap her to a pole so she can’t get away and (yes she would have to be at least stripped to her underwear, sorry bout the fucking bad view ppl but its necessary) take dull serrated knives and inflict little slice marks or cuts all over her body right before we take gallons of rubbing alcohol mixed with large quantities of ice melting rock salt and pour that over her body. Then she can just sit there for about an hour while us animal rights advocates sit n watch her suffer while we video tape it for sharing on You Tube. Then we can taunt her by placing a bottle of pain killers like Tylenol or Advil (nothing good for this cunt) and a glass of water just out of her reach so she can think about how nice it would be to not be in that much ever living fucking hell if she was just able to reach the bottle and glass of water. Then we can get some fish guts (yeah, must give credit to the movie “I Spit on Your Grave” for this method) and rub them in her eyes while she is strapped to a tree in the woods and allow for the crows and other birds etc to peck her eyes out. When we are all done with that we can off her an Aleve but she must take it with the warm glass of fucking piss that someone was kind enough to donate to our cause…but before the meds have a chance to kick in we will give her a Colombian necktie and throw her in the fucking Lions cage at the zoo for the finishing touch. ***This way the animal rights advocates have revenge and also the animals, at least some of them can avenge for the other ones this fucking cunt has killed!!! Yes, I am a passionate person when it comes to animals. I hate people that maliciously hurt animals and feel this is the best way to demonstrate it, also it would really slow the fuck down on abuse if people knew this is what they were up against if they hurt an animal!

    • Stephanie, I feel your anger. Believe me, I do. I feel physically sick when I think of the hundreds of thousands of animals that were slaughtered because of Blackmar when they could have been saved…. and many died unspeakably horrible deaths. And although it might help to fantacize about getting revenge, these thoughts should remain just that.

But what we CAN do to change the situation going forward is to remember that out elected officials i.e. our Harris County Commissioners, our Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan and our Harris County District Attorney did absolutely nothing when their investigation proved that Blackmar and her employees were breaking state humane laws, and that they lied about giving injured animals such as Hope pain medication. They also doctored the records to cover up their horrific deeds. Harris County ELECTED officials know this and still did nothing.

WE can change this the next that we go to the voting booth. WE can change this by forwarding this information to every single person that we know. WE can change this by CONTINUALLY demanding that Harris County hire someone to fill Blackmar’s position who actually cares about saving lives. We absolutely CANNOT allow Harris County to hire someone just like Blackmar again. If they do, it may take another 25 years to get rid of that person.

WE have to exercise our rights as voters to make a difference in Harris County and we absolutely must tell our elected officials what we expect.

Enough of the good ol’ boy network where no one ever gets fired no matter how many laws they break Enough is enough.

  5. Keep exposing these monsters! We are the voices that Blackmar & her ilk want to silence. How shameful HOUSTON continues to back the KILLING rather than the saving of pets. County Commissioners – YOU bear the responsibility for the countless deaths. Will you continue the KILLING TREND? Or, will you say, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!”

    • Thanks Sam. Keep spreading the word to everyone you know. We need to reach every voter in Harris County and make them aware of what is going on so that they will contact their ELECTED officials and demand that the next director hired actually care about saving lives.

Every single person in Harris County needs to contact their elected officials about this. Otherwise, they think that we do not care and they continue to do as they please with no repercussions.
